Folding Mountain Brewing is one of the stops we make every time we visit Jasper. We grab a couple growlers to quench the thirst for delicious brews in the mountains, and a meal with the kids if it’s near lunch or dinner.
Folding Mountain is a casual spot, near-enough to Jasper but technically in Jasper East, that boasts an incredible patio, view of the mountains and delicious favourites.
You can enjoy the delicious food (the rotating feature grilled cheese is a staple) and sit on the patio outdoors, or indoors (at a socially distanced table this year). Last time we visited, there were board games for the kids to enjoy at our table while waiting for the food, and while their parents enjoyed the lovely views of the mountains before you arrive in Jasper.
What to order: the kids favourites were the grilled cheese and fries. For the more sophisticated (okay, not that much more sophisticated tastes at the able), we ordered a flight of beer – the cranberry apple sour is incredible, charcuterie salad (yes, they mixed those two!) and the beer Mac and cheese with bacon. Delicious, every bite. We ordered an extra poutine for the table to share, and it was the perfect mix of gooey-cheese and gravy, with those delicious hand cut fries.
The generous sized portion of poutine was devoured by three kids, and there was still enough left over for us to grab a few bites from the enormous bowl that arrived at our table.
tip: Folding Mountain has the most incredibly comfortable sweatshirts. Don’t skip the classic, WEEKENDS MOUNTAINS AND BEER ($60) or the newly designed favourite, in hunter green – you can shop the march, here.
